Online Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification and Renewal
The Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course is designed for healthcare professionals who provide care for pediatric patients in emergent situations. A large part of PALS is dedicated to recognizing and treating respiratory distress and respiratory failure, which are the most common, acutely life-threatening conditions in infants and young children. However, PALS training is comprehensive. We cover cardiovascular emergencies such as pediatric shock, cardiac arrhythmias, and cardiac arrest.
PALS is not simply ACLS for kids. It is a completely separate resuscitation approach. Infants and children experience different types of life-threatening experiences than adults. Pediatric patients often experience respiratory distress and shock before they enter cardiac arrest. PALS teaches providers to perform rapid, accurate assessments and timely interventions in pediatric patients.
Who Should Take This Course?
The PALS certification course is designed for healthcare professionals who care for pediatric patients including physicians, physician assistants, registered nurses, nurse practitioners, EMTs, paramedics, medical students, and other healthcare professionals and students. The PALS course is especially important for those who work in the NICU, PICU, Labor and Delivery, Pediatrics, Trauma, and Emergency Medicine.
Most hospitals, medical centers, and group practices require all staff to at least have BLS certification. Any staff members caring for infants and children are often required to obtain and maintain PALS certification. In order to stay current with advances in pediatric resuscitation science, renewal is required every two years.

When the physicians at ACLS Medical Training were creating our curriculum, they decided a hands-on skills test on a mannequin is not critical for a continuing education course. These tactile experiences cannot be duplicated in a classroom — they can only be learned through practice in the field, which comes as part of your clinical training.
This course is widely accepted throughout the U.S. and internationally as a targeted refresher for experienced medical professionals.
Additionally, our PALS training course has been reviewed, validated, and accredited by the Postgraduate Institute for Medicine.
